For skin where SPF is not optional.
For some skin, sun sensitivity is not a skincare concern ~ it is a medical one. Photosensitive medications, post-procedure skin, and a range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions can make UV exposure a trigger for reactions that go far beyond the surface. Flushing, flares, systemic responses, and skin damage that takes weeks to recover from rather than days.
We know this ~ not because we read about it, but because we live with it. We are not dermatologists, doctors, immunologists, rheumatologists, or estheticians. We are people who have navigated these conditions ourselves and built this collection from that experience ~ the products we actually reach for, formulated without the ingredients we have learned to avoid.
This collection is curated for skin where SPF is non-negotiable and where the formula matters as much as the protection factor. Gentle, fragrance-free, and formulated without the ingredients most likely to trigger reactive skin ~ SPF options that sit lightly, absorb cleanly, and protect without the white cast, the occlusive weight, or the chemical actives that sensitised skin cannot tolerate.
Alongside SPF, this collection includes the barrier-supporting and calming formulas that photosensitive skin needs daily ~ not just after a reaction, but as the foundation of a routine built around protection first.
This is not medical advice. Please always consult your treating specialist before introducing new products ~ particularly if you are managing an active condition or taking photosensitising medication. But if you want to talk through the edit with someone who genuinely understands ~ we are here.
A note on active flare-ups. If you are currently in an active flare ~ please simplify. Anything with vitamin C, niacinamide, AHA/BHA, retinoids, or fragrance can increase photosensitivity or trigger reactive skin during a flare. This is not the time for actives, however gentle. Strip the routine back to SPF, a gentle cleanser, and a barrier cream ~ and rebuild from there when your skin has settled.
We have flagged the safest products in this collection for active flare use. When in doubt ~ less is always more. And please, always follow the guidance of your treating specialist.
Best for: Cutaneous Lupus, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), polymorphic light eruption, photosensitive medications, post-procedure skin, autoimmune skin conditions, anyone for whom UV exposure triggers more than sunburn.
