Centella Asiatica.

The ingredient Korea has been using for centuries. The rest of the world just discovered it.

Centella asiatica ~ also known as CICA, tiger grass, or gotu kola ~ is a small flowering plant that has been used in Korean and Asian medicine for thousands of years. Applied to wounds, burns, and skin conditions long before modern dermatology gave it a name, centella’s healing properties are not a recent discovery. They are a well-documented, clinically validated fact that Korean skincare simply had the wisdom to formalise into formulation.

The active compounds within centella ~ madecassoside, asiaticoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid ~ each work on the skin through distinct but complementary mechanisms. Madecassoside calms inflammation and reduces redness at the cellular level. Asiaticoside stimulates collagen synthesis and accelerates wound healing. Asiatic acid strengthens the skin barrier and improves elasticity. Together they produce an effect that no single synthetic active has yet replicated ~ genuine, measurable barrier repair that calms, protects, and rebuilds simultaneously.

Korean brands have been formulating with centella at therapeutic concentrations for decades ~ in toners, ampoules, creams, and masks designed for daily use on the most sensitive, reactive, and compromised skin types. Not as a supporting ingredient buried at the bottom of an ingredient list, but as the hero ~ at concentrations that produce the results the plant has always been capable of.

CICA is not a trend. It is a tradition ~ one that Korean skincare elevated into one of the most clinically respected ingredients in contemporary dermatology.

Best for: sensitive and reactive skin, barrier repair, redness, post-procedure recovery, acne-prone skin, inflammation, compromised skin of every kind.
